About the event

Anatomy of Movements - A Manual on how your body works in Yoga poses and other movements.

Did you know: The body was designed and made to MOVE. 

What actually moves when your body moves? And what works in which way in order to make those movements?

Discovering how things work is very interesting, and in these workshops, we will discover how YOUR BODY works when it moves. Yes, your body - the best gift you ever receive. 

A large percentage of injuries and pains is due to BAD postures and moving habits. When you move knowing what you're doing, you will not fall into the trap of bad postures!

Base on these principles, I practice Yoga and build my Yoga classes. I also apply these movements into every day's postures for myself. I highly recommend that you do BOTH workshops to get the full idea. 

The Anatomy of Movements is basic principles that apply for Yoga poses as well as any other training. 

The Workshop has 2 parts on 2 Sundays (23/2 and 1/3) 

All WS information will be presented at BASIC LEVEL. I will not speak any Latin. We will talk about some definitions and then learn from our body in Yoga poses. 

SUNDAY 23 FEBRUARY: 13.00 - 15.00: HIPS & KNEES

- Bones, muscles, joints, what are they & what do they do?

- What is ¨range of movements¨ - joints' mobility?

- What is ¨flexibility¨?

- MOVEMENTS OF THE HIP JOINTS: What can your hips do?

- Movements of the knee joints: What can your knee do?

- Identify muscle groups that help you move your hips & how to strengthen/stretch them

- Become aware of your own boundaries in the hips & knees 

- Discussion & comments, Q&A

SUNDAY 1 MARCH: 13.00 - 15.00: SHOULDERS & SPINE

- Two different joints on your shoulder: The ¨ball & socket¨ and the shoulder blades

- MOVEMENTS OF THE SHOULDER JOINTS: What can your shoulders do?

- Identify muscle groups that move your shoulder & how to strengthen/stretch them

- Become aware of your own boundaries in the shoulders

- What makes up your spine?

- MOVEMENTS OF YOUR SPINE - a chain of joints: What can your spine do?

- Identify muscle groups that move your spine & how to strengthen/stretch them

- Become aware of your own boundaries in the spine

- Discussion & comments, Q&A

Q&A:

Q: What will I get out of this workshop?

A:- Basic anatomy knowledge applying for movements

- Raise your understanding of your own body, therefore improve body awareness.

- Know your own limits in movement so that you choose the way you do Yoga Asana or the exercises that benefit your body.

- Find your own moving and posture habits & see yourself how they affect your body.

- Prevent pains from bad posture or movement habits.

Q: Will we learn muscles and bones' names?

A: Not so much, we will get to know the muscles in group and by what they do. We will say the name of the few main muscles.

Q: Will we do Yoga?

A: Definitely Yes, a lot of Yoga poses so that we see how the joints move.

Q: Will we detect body problems and how to fix them?

A: I am not qualified to do that. A doctor or a therapist do the job. But with more awareness of your body and its habits, you understand more about your body, which motivates you to change.
